Listen, Whisper & Barge

Coaching a call while it is still running. One connection sits behind three settings for who can hear you, and moving from silent, to a word in the rep's ear, to openly on the line neither drops the call nor rings anybody again.

Supervisor joins are written to the call record with who joined, when, and in which mode.

The mechanism

How it works.

01

Pick the call, then the mode

Supervision is started from the live calls board, a row at a time. Your own extension is rung, answers itself, and you arrive already in the mode you chose rather than in a menu you then navigate.

02

Listen adds nothing to the call

The supervisor leg hears both sides and injects audio in neither direction. No badge appears on the rep's screen, no announcement is played to the customer, and the conversation itself is untouched.

03

Whisper reaches the rep only

Coaching audio is injected into the rep's own leg and does not cross into the conversation bridge, which is why the customer cannot hear it. Barge adds a second injection on the far party, and that is the entire difference between the two.

04

Change mode without re-dialling

Switching level opens a fresh listener at the new setting, puts it into the bridge you are already sitting in, then drops the old one. You are never rung again and the call underneath is never touched.

Where it sits

One moment in every call.

Every call passes through the same seven. Listen, Whisper & Barge is the lit one, and everything either side of it is a different page in this category.

8 facts
Modes
Listen, whisper and barge, switched mid-session on the same supervisor leg
Started from
The live calls board, per row. Not the call bar, which only switches mode
Whisper path
Injected into the rep's leg; it never crosses into the conversation bridge
Barge
Adds one further injection per far party, so the customer hears you as well
The rep's view
No on-screen indicator. In listen mode nothing tells the rep you are there
The rep's call
Not re-dialled, not held, and its own recording carries on underneath
Permission
Tenant admin or telephony access, checked against the call before the supervisor leg is placed
Limits
A supervision leg cannot itself be supervised, held or transferred

20 capabilities

Flows, queues, oversight and compliance screening on media we operate.

Call Flow Builder

Thirty-nine nodes across nine categories. Drag them onto the canvas, connect the branches, and dry-run the whole path before you publish it.

Predictive Dialer

Open more lines than you have reps, paced against live answer rates, and hold the abandonment cap you set. Every connect opens the record it belongs to.

Power & Preview Dialing

Set the mode per campaign. Preview lets a rep read the record first, autodial moves on after wrap-up, and power opens several lines per agent.

Answering-Machine Detection

Detection listens to the first moments of a connect and drops greetings, dead air and IVR trees. What lands in a headset is a person who said hello.

IVR & Auto-Attendant

Build the menu callers hear as a step in the flow, with fifteen starting templates from a plain auto-attendant to compliance-screened inbound.

Call Queues

Welcome audio, hold music, periodic announcements and four separate overflow destinations, so a queue never simply runs out of places to send a call.

Ring Strategies

Ring all, hunt, fewest calls, random, round robin with memory, or strict priority order. Change how a queue behaves without rebuilding it.

Skills-Based Routing

Match a caller to the agents who can actually help, on all, any or weighted skill matching, with a failover destination when nobody qualifies.

Queue Callbacks

Offer a callback after a wait threshold or a queue position, hold the caller's place, and dedupe requests so nobody gets rung twice for one problem.

VIP Priority Routing

Flag a lead VIP and they skip the welcome, bypass the queue cap and reach an agent first - with ageing, so that ordinary callers never starve behind them.

Dispositions & Wrap-Up

Wrap-up codes that do something. Twenty-six behaviours fire off a disposition: raise a task, book a callback, set do-not-call, flag the wrong party.

Smart Caller ID

The number most likely to be answered is chosen per call, ranked on the history with this lead, the overall answer rate, recency and area-code affinity.

Compliance Screening

Screen callers against Federal DNC, known TCPA litigators and your own internal list - as drag-and-drop steps inside the flow, before anyone is reached.

Phone Numbers

Search live carrier inventory, filter by country or by digits the number ends with, and claim it to a flow or a person the moment it is yours.

Toll-Free Numbers

Toll-free sits beside local as a first-class number type, routed by the same flows and billed from the same wallet as everything else you own.

International Numbers

Numbers in the countries you operate in, drawn from four carrier providers, so opening a new market is a purchase rather than a procurement project.

Voicemail Boxes

Organisation, team and personal mailboxes with their own access rules and greetings, and every message transcribed and attached to the right record.

Business Hours & Holidays

Reusable weekly schedules and holiday calendars in your own timezone, so out-of-hours routing is a setting rather than a flow you rebuild each December.

SMS & Text Conversations

Two-way texting from the same numbers you call on, threaded per contact and landing on the same record, so the text and the call are one conversation.

Media Library & Voices

Upload a recording, record one in the browser, or generate it from text in a chosen brand voice - then use it in any flow, queue or mailbox.
